Quercia al Poggio Wedding: A Destination Celebration in Tuscany

Taylor & Chris’s Quercia al Poggio Wedding: An Intimate Destination Celebration in Tuscany

Taylor & Chris’s Quercia al Poggio wedding was a beautiful destination wedding set in the rolling hills of Tuscany. As film wedding photographer in Tuscany, we’ve gotten to see a few beautiful wedding venues around here, but Taylor & Chris really did strike gold with their choice for their wedding. Only a few minutes away from our house, sitting right on the edge of the Chianti region, Quercia al Poggio is a wedding venue in Tuscany in what used to be a 19th-century Convent and a small village.

Now a stunningly authentic vineyard, the venue is the perfect backdrop for elegant and intimate destination weddings that still feels very authentically Tuscan. Blending the rustic Italian charm of the venue with their own timeless elegance, Taylor & Chris created what a perfect destination wedding in Tuscany should be—intimately stylish, surrounded by vineyards and cypress trees, and designed with a focus on guest experience and natural beauty.

A Dream Wedding at Quercia al Poggio

For Taylor & Chris, Tuscany was the perfect setting for their intimate destination wedding in Tuscany. Coming from the US, they wanted something rustic and original and ended up finding Quercia al Poggio the perfect option for what they had in mind. The venue, a historic wine estate, offered everything to allowing their closest friends and family to immerse themselves in the beauty of Tuscany.

Quercia al Poggio: A Historic Tuscan Wedding Venue for Intimate Gatherings

Located right outside the town of Barberino Tavarnelle, Quercia al Poggio is perched on top of a hill, offering panoramic views, charming stone farmhouses, and vast vineyards. The venue offers an authentic Tuscan experience, but it’s located less than 30 miles from Florence.

Located on the edge of the Chianti, this region offers everything from the medieval history of Badia a Passignano, the world-famous Antinori nel Chianti Classico Winery, and restaurants that vary from Michelin starred to traditional Tuscan eateries nearby.

From a wedding photographer in Tuscany perspective —the couple’s suite, featuring a modern room with large windows (perfect for bridal portraits) was perfect for the bride and bridesmaids to get ready in. It had plenty of room for everyone to be spread out enough for Marilia to take some beautiful photos of Taylor.

Quercia al Poggio also offers a few different options for aperitivo and ceremony areas. We think even hosting the dinner where their aperitivo was set up could be a great setup to do something different utilizing the venue’s space.

Dancing took place in a large covered room, which kept things separate and quiet for guests that did not want to continue dancing later into the night.

An Elegant Tuscany Wedding Blending Tradition and Timeless Charm

Taylor & Chris wanted their wedding to feel effortlessly elegant while embracing the natural beauty of Tuscany. Their design choices by the couple made with their wedding planner Righe & Poi, as well as the florals by Elena Mainodi blended perfectly with Quercia al Poggio’s original old charm.

Taylor had a first look with her bridesmaids outside and they wore matching blue dresses and the location couldn’t have been more perfect. She then had her first look with Chris on a hidden and secluded area of the borgo, far away from the guests and intimate so they could fully enjoy the moment.

Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed aperitivo with wines made by Quercia al Poggio, and Taylor had a beautiful Tuscany Marvel book by Assouline as her guestbook, which was incredible. The apertivo area features an incredible view and has a low brick wall guests can casually sit on and drink their Aperol Spritz while watching the Tuscan sunset.

Dinner was served in the courtyard in long tables, perfect for seeing guests react to all the speeches made during dinner. Quercia al Poggio makes Chianti DOCG wine that was served throughout dinner, and you can’t have a more authentic experience than drinking wine made on the actual ground you’re standing on.

Photographing on Film at Quercia al Poggio

As a film wedding photographer in Tuscany, we always have a special day when couples choose full hybrid film coverage. And this was the case with Taylor and Chris. There’s something about film that just fits in with the Tuscan light that is hard to explain. For Taylor & Chris’s wedding, worked with a mixture of 35mm film and 120. Photographing on film means slowing down, which feels even more natural at a place like this.

Taylor & Chris, thank you so much for having us. We are so glad you found us and had us there to capture such an intimate celebration of love at your wedding at Quercia al Poggio. It was definitely a reminder to ourselves of our love for Tuscany. You two looked absolutely stunning, you and your families couldn’t have been kinder. We had the best day possible. Thank you!

And thank you to all these incredible vendors for helping this day happen:
