Drawing on over 15 years of experience, we create timeless, refined, and emotive imagery with an editorial eye that will stand the test of time. Our vision is guided by the historical importance of photographs over aesthetic trends, imagining generations to come reacting to these photographs.

Our commitment to artisanal tradition means Frankie & Marilia. You get both of us, from the first time we sit down to speak all the way to your wedding day. We photograph, edit, and color correct every single wedding ourselves. This also means we are only able to take on a limited number of weddings a year in order to give each couple the service, attention and quality of work we would like to receive.

TIMELESS & INTENTIONAL

ON OUR APPROACH

Weddings are for celebrating love. They’re for reuniting families. They’re about dancing and eating with loved ones. They are definitely not about us or any other vendors. As we work throughout the day, our main focus is ensuring we tell the story of what is happening without taking away from real moments.

For most of the day we watch unobtrusively. During the moments we do get to spend alone with you as a couple, our goal is to capture your essence, making suggestions and slowly guiding you along the best light and background but never posing.

Using a blend of digital, medium format, and 35mm cameras, we aim to create a cohesive true-to-color body of work that will not feel dated. We strive to make our film images look even better than digital. To let you feel something from the grain and the colors – not simply to have a cool analog look.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

01.

What is your approach to wedding photography?

Refined, natural imagery with an editorial eye — never forced, never overdone.

We’re here to tell the story of your wedding through our own vision. For most of the day we work unobtrusively, pointing the camera at what we believe tells your story best — while making sure the classic portraits and key moments are captured the way they should be. During the time we do get alone with you as a couple, we’ll guide you gently through the best light and setting, but we don’t pose – we guide. What we’re after is something that feels effortless and considered at the same time — images that look like your day, not a production.

Every couple is different, and we’ve learned to read when to step in and when to stay back. That’s something we figure out together as the day unfolds. If you have more editorial aspirations in mind, it’s worth discussing before the wedding so we can plan the time to make it happen.

We like to be part of the process — involved in the timeline, close to your families, and given the room to do our best work.

02.

Where are you based? Will you travel for weddings?

We’re based in Tuscany — just outside Florence, on the edge of the Chianti. It’s a hard place to leave, but we travel regularly for weddings across Italy and Europe, whether that means a short drive, a train, or a flight. If you’re planning a destination wedding in Italy or beyond, we’d love to hear about it.

03.

What is the booking process? How do I secure my date?

Reach out with your date and a few details about your wedding. We’ll set up a video call to get to know each other and make sure we’re the right fit. From there, we’ll put together a package that works for you if you need — once the agreement is signed and a 30% retainer is paid, your date is secured and you’re done. Payments can be made by bank transfer or digitally, and we’re happy to work out a payment plan if needed. Then you can actually relax knowing your wedding photography is taken care of. Then it’s time to rest easy and celebrate having us in your lives.

04.

How far ahead should we book a wedding photographer?

We typically book out 8 to 16 months ahead. Since we take on a limited number of weddings each year, we’d recommend reaching out as soon as you have your venue — the sooner the better. That said, we do occasionally have last-minute availability, so if your date is coming up soon, it’s always worth getting in touch.

05.

Do you shoot film and digital?

Yes — we shoot on a blend of digital, medium format, and 35mm film. Rather than defaulting to one or the other, we choose based on the light, the moment, and what will actually look best. The goal is a cohesive body of work where film and digital sit naturally alongside each other — true-to-color, timeless, and not trend-dependent. With film, we’re after the grain and the colors, not just an analog aesthetic.

Film coverage is included in some packages, and available as an addition to others — either way, it’s something we’d strongly recommend.

06.

Are you legally allowed to work in Italy? Are you insured?

Yes, on both counts. We’re dual Italian citizens, fiscally resident in Italy, with a fully registered business (Partita IVA 07258710487). We’re insured to work at all venues, and hold both mandatory drone insurance and an operating license.

07.

Do you work with a second photographer?

Frankie & Marília means Frankie & Marilia — always. Two first photographers, every wedding, with the same experience, aligned aesthetics, and technical approach. We’re a married couple; sharing interests comes with the territory.

We don’t split up for weddings. Ever. You get both of us, fully present, for the whole day. For larger weddings or specific coverage needs, we can bring in additional photographers — but Frankie & Marilia are always there. Rejoice.

08.

Are taxes included in your Tuscany wedding photography prices?

Yes — all prices are inclusive of tax. At the end of your payment plan you’ll receive a formal tax receipt.

09.

How many photos will we receive?

It depends on your wedding. Guest count, venue size, and how much is happening throughout the day all play a role — a 500-guest celebration and an intimate microwedding are very different in scope. As a general guide, expect roughly 60–70 images per hour of coverage.

With film, the number varies more — it’s shaped by our choice of stock for each moment, available light, and the timeline on the day.

10.

When will we receive our photos? Do we get a sneak peek?

We take on a limited number of weddings each year specifically so we can give each one our full attention. Turnaround for weddings is 8 weeks, and for engagement or portrait sessions, 4 to 6 weeks — though we often deliver earlier than that.

And yes, we know you’ll want something to share straight away. You’ll receive a preview within 5 days of your wedding.

11.

Can you recommend wedding vendors? Can you help with our wedding timeline?

Once you’re booked, we’ll share our wedding guide — a detailed resource covering timeline planning and our curated list of recommended vendors built from years of working across Tuscany and Italy.

That said, a good wedding planner will always be the best person to make final calls. We’re happy to recommend planners too.

12.

Do you offer wedding videography?

We don’t — but we’d strongly recommend it. Video captures something photography can’t, and the two work beautifully together. We have a trusted list of videographers across Italy and Europe that we’re happy to share.

13.

Do you offer drone photography at weddings?

Yes — we’re licensed and insured to operate a drone in Italy, and it’s already included in our coverage. That said, we can’t always guarantee it. Flight restrictions apply to many venues and locations across Italy, and weather is a factor we take seriously. We’ll always fly when we can — but we won’t promise what legislation and the sky don’t always allow.

14.

Do you cover elopements, large weddings, and multi-day events?

All of them. We’ve photographed weddings of 600+ guests and intimate elopements, and we’re equally at home at both. If there’s a celebration, we want to be there.

Our most popular package includes day-before coverage — welcome dinners, pizza parties, whatever the evening looks like. It’s a great way for everyone to get comfortable with us before the wedding day itself, and it shows in the photos.

15.

Are your wedding photography packages customizable?

Yes. Every wedding is different, and our packages reflect that. Whether you’re interested in adding an engagement session, a wedding album, extended coverage, or something else entirely — we’re happy to put together something that works for you. Get in touch and we’ll figure it out.

16.

Are all the wedding photos delivered edited?

Yes — every image in your gallery is hand-edited. Curated, color corrected, and finished by us. No AI, no shortcuts.

17.

Do you offer engagement sessions in Tuscany?

Yes, and we love photographing them. We photograph engagement sessions in Florence, across Tuscany, and anywhere else in Italy. Some of our packages include one, and beyond the photos themselves, they’re a genuinely useful way to get comfortable with us before the wedding day.

18.

Can we meet before the wedding?

Absolutely. We start with an initial video call when you first reach out, and then meet again a few weeks before the wedding to go over everything in detail. If you happen to be in Florence or the Chianti before the day, we’d love to take you for coffee or a drink somewhere we like.

We’ll also follow you on social media in the lead-up — not in a strange creepy way, just to get to know you a little before we spend the most important day of your lives together. The more comfortable you are with us, the more real and personal the images will be.

19.

Are Travel Fees Included for Weddings in Tuscany?

For weddings in Tuscany, there are no travel fees — we’re already here, waiting for you, espresso in hand. For weddings elsewhere in Italy or Europe, travel costs are calculated individually and discussed transparently before anything is confirmed.

20.

How much should we budget for a wedding photographer in Tuscany?

Our wedding packages start at €3,850, with pricing varying based on coverage hours, film photography, and whether you need multi-day coverage. For elopements and microweddings, prices start at €1,500. Get in touch and we’ll put together a custom quote based on your specific wedding.

21.

Do you photograph all couples?

We feel bad people still need to ask this question. Love is love and this is the only reason why we are 100% committed to our work. We are truly honored to document weddings for all couples, regardless of cultures, ethnicities, races, sexes, gender identities and expressions, national origins, ages, languages spoken, colors, religions, disabilities, sexual orientations, and beliefs and we will stand by this with all our beings.

UNDERSTAND THE PROCESS

THE F&M EXPERIENCE

1.
Take the leap.
You fill out our contact form, and magical things start to happen. We’ll reach out with an email to better understand your needs and whether we are the right fit for you. We’ll send you a detailed guide with our wedding photography pricing in Tuscany or for your destination wedding anywhere in Italy.
You’ll schedule a call on our calendar for us to meet. If you’re in Florence or around us in Chianti, we’ll meet in person for delicious coffee. If not, we’ll talk online. We’ll open up to you. You’ll open up to us. You tell us why you chose Italy and what your expectations for your wedding are. We’ll tell you more about ourselves (like about our ridiculous love for dogs) and our work. If we think we can meet each other’s expectations, it’s a match. Heck yes. You might even get to meet our cat.
We will then ask you for some details and write up a formal agreement, then send it over to you. You’ll look it over and sign it. After our retainer fee is paid, we’re officially your photographers, and your date is saved.
2.
Trust the process.
We’ll send you our F&M Wedding Guide to help you with photography-specific (and more) parts of your wedding you should consider. We’ll be available to answer any questions you two may have regarding vendor recommendations, wedding plans and inspiration, timeline concerns or anything you feel like it’s worth sharing.
If you’re on social media, we’ll try to connect and try to follow you along this journey up until the wedding day. The only way for us to create natural and meaningful photographs of such an important day is letting us in. We’re here to tell your story, but we need to play a tiny role in this if we are to get close to where emotions happen. We need to get close to you, your family and friends at your wedding, that’s where true stories lie.

A few weeks before the wedding we’ll have a final call where we’ll go over every single detail you know (and maybe haven’t thought of) about your wedding.

3.
Soak it in.
On your wedding day we’ll observe things as candidly as possible. We will stand close to you from the moment you’re getting ready until late into the night, intervening when we are asked to or think there is potential for some creative guidance.
We can only be as authentic as you are. We know how to tell stories – but we need to have interesting stories to tell. Here is where you come in. Tell us how your personality shines through in the details you chose for your wedding. Stand close to the people that matter. Be yourselves and have fun.
We’ll send you some sneak peeks of your wedding within a few days. In 8 weeks at the most you’ll receive all your photos in an online gallery, all ready to be shared with your guests and loved ones.

We are SO grateful that we happened upon Frankie & Marilia and booked them as our photographers for our wedding. They are incredibly knowledgeable of all things wedding-related in Tuscany (which was much appreciated as foreigners), and exude such a strong passion for their craft. F&M were excellent communicators and kept us sane throughout the entire planning process and day-of events. You can tell that they deeply care about your experience, and they listened to all of our “wants” — and as such, we trusted them fully. Above all, they are just really good people with big hearts. Trust me, you won’t regret booking them. Their style is timeless, and we’re so lucky that they agreed to capture such special moments for us to keep forever.
